The swim team has had a great season with everyone improving and overall having fun; getting to know each other while staying active. Our team showed positivity, perseverance, community and support at the Island Championships and were able to boost each other up when in need. Although our team is mostly younger and less experienced and they compete against even against bigger, older and more experienced teams, they still show better skill and technique. Even with only 10 swimmers in 28 races, they were often able to score in the top 10. They came out of the meet with the feeling of accomplishment and positivity. Because most of the swimmers are multi-sport athletes, it is difficult to really focus in and develop some of their skills to the fullest abilities possible. There were a lot of impressive and great things that happened this year, like a lot of swimmers were able to pass their personal bests and many learned from their mistakes to make them even better swimmers.

Mr. Bunyan said, “the team conduct anytime we go anywhere is always top notch.” He also referred to our swimmers being some of the nicest athletes he’s had the opportunity to coach. A big acknowledgement to Matthias Woodley, GISS Grad 2025, for coming back to help coach and sharing all he knows with the team.
