About Us
Big things are happening this year at GISS, and now you'll be the first to know. We are excited to announce the first edition of The Sting. This is our School Newspaper for the 2025/2026 school year, run by our amazing Media Lab team in S111. The Sting will keep students informed on all recent events: sports, academics, clubs, arts, and more! We hope that through the next few months we can keep students and staff informed, entertained, and inspired.
Our team of writers, editors, and reporters have been working hard to keep you informed on the stories that matter to you. From coverage on sports and events, to opinion pieces and student interviews, the sting will be an inside look into the heartbeat of the school. We aspire to make the Sting a space for diversity and inclusion, ensuring that all voices and opinions can be represented. Creativity will shine, voices will be heard, and important discussions will be started.
This issue is only the beginning, with each issue The Sting will grow, improve, and explore new ideas based off your feedback, that means we want YOU to be a part of it! Whether it be contributing stories, partaking in interviews, sharing photos or artwork, or even just offering your thoughts on the latest edition, please feel free to contact our team at gissmedialab@sd64.org.
So grab a copy, read along, and join us in making The Sting more than just a newspaper, but a community hub.
Our Vision

We are excited to announce that The Sting is run almost completely by GISS students! With Mr. Massey serving as the newspaper Advisor and Interim Editor in Chief, he leaves the creation and design of the newspaper up to the students, solely offering guidance in production.
The Managing Editor of The Sting is Finlay McMaster, he is tasked with handling day-to-day operations, coordination between sections, and keeping the team on track. Each section of the newspaper is managed by an Editor with Staffers working under them to produce quality content. this issue's Editors are: Hannah Busgang (Academics), Nadia Cooper (Arts), Ever Wirth (Athletics), and Izzie Rudgley (Student life). Violet Miller leads the design team and Maiya Baxter is in charge of our digital version. Our amazing team is working as hard as they can to ensure quality material is being produced and deadlines are being met. Please give them a warm welcome!
