Sophie Wertman and Ever Wirth
The Jr Boys A Basketball team season started off to a rocky start with their first game against Quw’wutsun. The final score was 69-32, a loss for us. Although they lost, the score doesn’t reflect how they played together and represented GISS values. They were able to quickly bounce back in their tournament later that weekend, facing three different teams and ended up getting 2nd place. They’ve had numerous more games and tournaments that they’ve gotten the opportunity to not only grow as players individually but also as a group. So far this season they have shown good teamwork, hard work, and dedicated players that come together and play well against other teams.
The tournament helped them get better and feel more confident players together as a team. Everyone is excited for the rest of the season and ready to keep improving. With their strong start, the team looks ready to have a great season. They practiced over the winter break and are ready to get right back into it in time for tournaments back in January.
