A Swift Start to the Soccer Year

by Sophie Wertman

The Senior Boys Soccer team has had an exciting season with a mix of wins and losses. This year the team has won against the Brooks, Timberline, Wellington and Ladysmith teams with 2 losses to Isfeld and Carihi. This year’s team is looking strong, and we’re expecting to have well-matched games against other schools. Their coach Mr. Ayton has expressed his excitement, enthusiasm and dedication to the team and is very appreciated for all the hard work they have done. A recap of a game against Brentwood: many recall how thrilling it was to watch the perseverance that the Senior Boys had during the whole game. Even after multiple injuries they never stopped trying and gave it their all.

They demonstrated positivity, communication, endurance, and determination during the entire game. Even though they lost 0-2, the game was still really well matched, and it was entertaining to watch them play. The boys finished their season with excellent play at North Islands, finishing fifth. This led to a playoff match at home vs Stellys for a chance to go to Islands. Although it was a hard-fought match, Stellys was victorious. Thanks for a great year of soccer to the Senior Boys!
