As a new year is starting at GISS, and students are making New Year resolutions. Some resolutions can be good ideas, and some might not be. An example of a resolution that might not be a good idea is an unrealistic resolution like cutting out all sugar from your diet or losing 20 pounds every month; these types of resolutions are unrealistic because it is nearly impossible to not eat sugar, with it existing in over 70% of all food, and constantly losing weight is not possible unless you are also gaining weight as well. Most people are not that consistent. If you are trying to make a New Year's Resolution that will stick, it should be small and realistic, like going on daily walks, reading more or learning a new skill or hobby. It is important to improve your daily life one small step at a time with realistic resolutions.
